"Oh No!!! Here Comes That CanMan Lady!!!"
(Title of this entry will be explained at the bottom of this post.)
A really neat thing happened since the last time I made an entry in here:
I got connected at home again!!!
My subscription to cable access began on December 5; my friend, Don, who had been storing a TV and some computer equipment for me in his garage, brought it to me that same week; and my goddaughter, Michelle, got me all set up right on my 64th birthday (December 12).
That's right!!! I now have a desktop with a cable-powered Internet connection right in my own apartment. I even have a couple of free WiFi options, though I prefer both the security and the overall better reception provided by my cable connection.
Here's one update:
I said in the October 24th entry called Updates Galore!!! that I wasn't sure whether or not October 24,
2013 were the actual date that I met Larry or if it were a week earlier. Since then, I came across something I'd written that shows that I was spot-on re: October 24.
As it turns out, I have (until today) only updated this journal one other time with the last entry being on November 29: Dew Drop Inn
Why is this so when I now have 24/7/365 Internet access at home?
Because even with that much access, there's still a lot of playing catch-up to do, along with continuous new current affairs, and I'm talking about both Internet and real-life.
Things will be able to get done more quickly in real life the more springlike the weather becomes for more days at a time -- and will be able to get done even MORE quickly and efficiently once AJ's Groovy Igloo (my white, hippie-decorated 2002 Pontiac Montana) is up-and-going again.
As far as online activities are concerned, I've just been getting back to writing for some special places (one in particular being Writing.com ) that I hadn't written for since sometime in 2013.
Anyway, I'm not going to try to tell you everything right now, but I'll be explaining more in future entries here, as well as HERE and a few assorted other places (more details re: those assorted other places in the future).
For now, I'm going to share a link to something I wrote that you'll (hopefully) find both informative and entertaining -- not to mention heartmelting and inspiring.
There are plenty of photos and videos of Larry included (even more in the comment section) so that you can see how his very body is a picture that paints the words of the story of his life...
Larry, Rachel, & I Want You!!!
As promised, I'm now going to tell you how I came up with the title for this entry...
I can be quite the shameless plugger when it comes to getting Larry's story "out there."
For instance, I might see a picture of a cute, little chihuahua posted on Facebook and leave a comment along the lines of "This little guy reminds me of somebody very special. Click here to find out more..." with the link, of course leading to something about Larry.
Whenever I take the North Anderson bus of the City of Anderson Transit System (CATS) (To check out CATS's friendly Facebook Page, GO HERE ), I'm known for always reminding the driver to beep at Larry.
Anyway, I had the sweetest next-door neighbor named Betty when I was living at Gillespie Tower over in Muncie. One day, she came back from the store with some potatoes and asked me to take some off her hands, as she couldn't possibly eat them all before they rotted, so I set about choosing mine. One of them was little and practically round.
"Awlllll..." I cooed. "I've just gotta have that one! It's so cute!! It reminds me of Larry!!!"
"EVERYTHING reminds you of Larry!" she replied with a laugh.
Actually, not EVERYthing reminds me of Larry. That potato just happened to because it was little and cute. Larry is 5'1 1/2" tall, and one look at him says that just like the late great James Brown is to this day The Godfather Of Soul, Larry surely must be The Godfather Of Cute or, at least, a very close runner-up!
Having said all of this, I think you might have a general idea re: how I came up with the title of this entry.
It's because there might actually be some people who see me approaching and say to themselves or their companions:
"Oh no!!! Here comes that CanMan lady!!!"
in the way that some people might say that there was nothing but re-runs on TV.
Actually, I HAVE been known to discuss other subject matter besides Larry and don't even slip his name into the conversation.
If you mentioned October 24 to me back when I was 12 years old, I'd tell you that it was the birthday of Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones. I can still remember all of the birthdays of the original band members along with Bill's:
Mick Jagger July 26
Brian Jones February 28
Keith Richards December 18
Charlie Watts June 2
On July 17, 1985, I met a beautiful friend named Marshall Mitchell (another outstanding person who has his own special story -- and he and Larry remind me of each other in a lot of ways) and found out that he had an older sister who was stillborn on October 24.
Anyway, that was what I associated with October 24 until after that day in 2013.
Now, the month of February and the year of 1947 have been important to me for all of my life, and I have lots of happy memories associated with that month and year because that was when Lillian Ainsley "Ainsley or Lee" Jobe married Raymond "Ray" Woodford Phillips at East Lynn Christian Church in Anderson, Indiana on February 8, 1947 -- which happened to be one of the coldest days of the year.
Those two still visit me in dreams sometimes and visit me in memories every day.
There is a blog I started about them right after my mom passed away but haven't done anything else with since a short time after I started it due to dealing with some online trolls and hackers, and I didn't want any chance of my special blog being destroyed by them.
Enough said about that.
And enough said for now -- period! -- as I want to get this posted.
I'll try not to be a stranger in the future...
